Not Feeling so great

I have been dealing with being dizzy for the last few weeks... finally went to the doctor who,of course, sent me for some tests... the tests are all negative and we are back to thinking that it is caused by a deep embedded sinus infection... feeling a little better but not great... In the meantime I have been experimenting with melting plastic spoons into a flower shape... doesn't smell very good but an interesting effect... Hope to have a few to show and get feedback. Off and running into town for a few errands.. have a peaceful day! Joyce

Sunday in January

Woke up to 5 degree temps this morning.. so happy that our heat is working again... It really gets cold when it goes out and I thought we could make a fire in the fireplace but that sucks all of the little heat there is out. Have lots of hot glueing to do today... rolled beautiful wool felt into pretty blooms and have to hot glue the ends.. Did you know that hot glue comes in 2 temps??? I didn't!! who would think that there is a low temp and hot temp form of hot glue... makes no sense to me... but now I only use hot temp hot glue!! Really need to re organize my studio... now that I have an embroidery machine and all it's stuff and I am not doing so much beading... thinking about having a really big sale on my beads...not sure that I will be able to part with them.... food for thought.... Have a great Sunday in January.

Have to get back to blogging

Hi all,,, I can't believe how I just don't do this... I have been really busy working on lot's of new designs for Craft Shows this Spring. Nice to think about Spring while it is snowing outside. Has been an interesting winter so far... lot's of problems with our heat but I think that my wonderful husband figured it out. Speaking of great spouses... I was trying to figure out how to make my ZyppleryTM zipper necklaces in a way that the vintage pins could be interchangeable... he came up with a way of attaching tubes to the back of the zipper pull that almost any pin back will fit thru... amazing and it works great.... Today I am catching up on making other zipper pieces.. they are challenging but I love the results... hope that you are enjoying your Saturday! Joyce

Freezing!!

OMG... it is really cold today... around minus 2.. thinking that maybe a move to somewhere warmer might not be a bad idea. Now that my husband has no job and I still work from home there is probably nothing stopping us except that I really do love the Berkshires. I am still venting about Tom's loss of a job... times have really changed when an employer has no remorse about letting an employee of 40 years go with out notice or explanation... I guess that Tom will not get a retirement party!! Maybe I will make one for him in the spring. I think that really large companies don't appreciated loyalty any more. So I am busy gathering names of children's Boutiques that might be interested in my Cute as a Button line and regular stores that might want to carry my Southfield Designs jewelry line. Too bad I don't really know anyone that can help me with that.. a few friends have given me suggestions but I would rather have root canal then approach stores where they don't know me..I guess that it is time for a root canal!!!

Finally figured this out

Ok... so I was apparently using the wrong address to get back in here..took time but I have figured it out. This past week was very stressful. After working for a company for about 40 years, my husband received a phone call telling him that his position has been eliminated....no warning at all..he was planning to retire in 2 years... not sure where we go from here but very upsetting. i am trying to let him figure out what we do next and at the same time being proactive with my accessory business... to upset right now to write more but now that I know how to get back here I will return soon.

Decisions! Decisions!

When we moved up here to the beautiful Berkshire Mts. of Mass. I decided to switch all of my important people to people up here. That meant the person that cuts my hair (that was the most important one).. doctors, nails (next important one).. I did everyone except for my Dentist... I really love my dentist and I have been going to him for a long time. So what to do when the forecast is for snow on Long Island( where the dentist is) for Friday into Sat... and the snow up here is expected Sat. into Sunday and of course my appointment is for Sat. morning. We were planning to go there on Sat. morning..already made plans to have someone come in and walk the dog...Decisions! Decisions! so this morning I cancelled the appointment and couldn't get another one until March so I hope that my teeth hold out...just kidding... So I guess we will be snowed in again at least for tomorrow. That will give me a chance to work on more Valentine bow barrettes... bought some really cute ribbon and want to get them up on my web sites..seems like Feb. 14 th a long time off but not according to the stores and advertising.. Too bad.. I was looking foward to seeing my family and and friends on LI..but I guess that I will have to wait and just get the shovel out again..who am I kidding!!! my husband does the shoveling while I watch from inside where is it warm...

Snowing Again!!!

So I woke up this morning to a surprise. I was expecting it to snow on Friday, not on Wed..oh well.. that is what it is like living in the Berkshire Mountains of Mass. To continue where I left off the other day. The glitter is finally gone, all the laundry is done and my house looks child free..at least until a visit from 2 other grandchildren the end of the month. It is soo grey outside that I had to get the glitter out again..this time in my studio and work on some bugs that I created. I use a plastic bug base and then add as many crystals , sequins and glitter that I can... they really cheer me up. I am hoping that the snow will stop today so I can get out and do some things. I still don't like to drive in it. It is very hilly up here and one day a few years ago I found myself in a snow bank on the side of the road. I really floored the gas pedal..I know you are not supposed to do that) but just wanted to get out. So with my knees shaking I drove the rest of the way home and announced that my" driving in the snow days was over!!" I do have a four wheel drive and the the car definately knows what to do, it is me that just gets so scared that my brain just turns off. So from the way it looks right know I will be getting out the glitter again today.
